A special recognition award entitled ‘Achievement of Excellence Award’ has recently been received by Joanne Panayi, for her ‘new shoes’ – A figurative sculpture range that she has designed that sets out to challenge the view of what people consider to be appealing as a feminine sculpture. Joanne is a Silversmith, Artist and Sculptress and currently enrolled on the Enterprise and Fellowship Scheme (EFS) within the Enterprise and Commercial Development Department at Staffordshire University.

Joanne lives and works in Longton, Stoke on Trent, originally a talented sign writer who has diversified into a wider media area and environments, having graduated at Staffordshire University with a BA (Hons) in 3D Craft Design in 2008. With two other Goldsmith Awards already under her belt and winning a place on the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme within the University, Joanne is now on her way to establishing a new workshop and taking orders for her work.
